Terms and Conditions:
Any data collected for the project will be managed and processed by Substance (the ‘data processor’) on behalf of Cefas (the ‘data controller’), in accordance with GDPR regulations.
By taking part, you are agreeing that data provided in the sign-up survey, online diary tool and mobile app can be processed and analysed for the research associated with the Sea Angling Diary Project.
All data is stored securely in the UK.
No identifying data will be processed for the project, except where it is required for administration purposes (such as user logins, reminder emails, users queries and online diary tool support). Identifying data is only accessible by Substance and is not shared with Cefas or any other third parties unless you have given express permission for that to be done. All data submitted by users will only be published in anonymised, aggregate form.
Your participation in the project will continue until the end of March 2027 unless you withdraw from the project before this time. We will store your personal data and Sea Angling Diary data until the end of March 2027 or as soon as the project and analysis is complete, if sooner. You can withdraw permission for us to store your data at any time by emailing seaanglingdiary@substance.net. If you withdraw from the project your personal data will be removed.

Monthly Prize Draws
All those completing their data entry each month will qualify for a monthly prize draw. The closing date for entries is the 15th of month following the ‘draw month’: i.e. for January, the closing data for data completion will be the 15th February; and for February the closing date with be the 15th of March 2021; and so on.
The winner will be selected at random by Substance no later than the 20th of the month following the draw month. The winner will be notified by email within 28 working days of the competition closing date. If a winner does not claim the prize within 10 days of being notified, or if a winner is not available to take up the prize, Substance reserves the right to award the prize to another entrant without liability to the winner.
The prize will be sent to the winner at the expense of Substance.
Each monthly draw is for:
- ONE x £50 voucher.
- ONE x £25 voucher.
- ONE x Goody bag.
Conditions Covering All Draws
Only one entry per person is permitted; and only one prize per person can be won.
There is no cash alternative to the prize.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Substance excludes all warranties, representations, covenants and liability (whether express or implied) regarding the competition or the prize but this shall not exclude Substance’s liability for death or personal injury as a result of its negligence.
Any personal data collected will be used solely in accordance with current UK Data Protection Legislation.
In the event of any dispute regarding the competition, the decision of Substance shall be binding and no correspondence or discussion shall be entered into.
Substance may disqualify you from winning the prize if it has reasonable grounds to suspect you may be in breach of these terms and conditions and/or your participation in the competition may be fraudulent or otherwise unlawful.
Substance reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions without prior notice. Any changes will be posted on this website. Any changes will apply to all entries received after the date the changes were posted.
These terms and conditions shall be governed by English law.

The individuals who post blogs and news items are Substance employees or associates. The opinions expressed in blogs are their own, are not necessarily reviewed in advance by anyone but the individual authors, and neither Substance nor any other party necessarily agrees with them.
